We believe we are the best because we deliver on what it is that people expect when they buy a pyrethrum based product. That is…a natural organic product that is free from residuals and pollutants.

Aren’t all pyrethrum based products organic?
No.
It is estimated that 70% of the worlds production of the raw ingredient pyrethrum oil is grown and manufactured in Australia.
This raw ingredient is what forms the basis for all pyrethrum based products on the shelves in NZ today.
When this raw ingredient is shipped to our local manufacturers to be added to their products it isn’t shipped as 100% raw pyrethrum oil. It is sold as a  50% concentrate. What the other 50% happens to be is overlooked by regulators. In fact they don’t care what it is as long as the end result  matches the defined hazard classification description for the product category. eg it has to have a flash point in a certain range.
The 50% that they dont tell you about and that goes into all of the products we use is Isopar-M.

What is Isopar-M?
The word Isopar comes from a truncation of the word Isoparaffin, which is a liquid fuel very similar to kerosene.

Why should I care ?
If you use a product created using raw ingredient sourced from anyone else then when you spray it you are distributing equal parts pyrethrum oil and kerosene over whatever it is you are treating.
This may not matter to you if you are spraying a warehouse or storage area, but if you are spraying your prize roses, your edible greens  or your organic crop for export then ANY AMOUNT of residual pollutant is too much in our opinion.

This contamination of kerosene is considered acceptable by MPI, ACVM and BioGrow because a) there is no alternative (until now) and b) because the residual contamination is considered to be low.

In our opinion “low” is still too much and does not take into account multiple sources or compounding build up over time. The only reason this isn’t a problem for people is because they don’t know about it.

There is no good reason for this carrier oil not to be an organic one, and so we have come up with a solution. We have replaced the isopar with alternatives that are more acceptable, natural and organic.

This is why our pyrethrum is best.
